Danish Agro’s seven feed factories have just become the first in the world to be certified in accordance with a new global ISO standard focusing on feed and food product safety.

Danish Agro’s seven feed factories have just become the first in the world to be certified in accordance with a new global ISO standard focusing on feed and food product safety.

The new standard is called ISO/TS 22002-6 and was released on 18 April as the final result of an industry initiative financed by the Danish trade organisation for grain and feedstuffs, DAKOFO in Denmark. It is intended to make it even more safe for consumers to buy and use feed and food products.

Danish Agro’s Quality Manager, Charlotte Stamp Frandsen, has the following to say on the new standard:

“The safety of feeds and food products is a major area of focus at Danish Agro. That’s why we are highly satisfied that we are the first – in the world - to be able to prove that we can meet the strict requirements for the new feed and food product certification. Consumer protection is a major concern all over the world. It must be safe to buy and use food products, and our products must not represent any form of risk. We encounter more and growing requirements for being able to prove feed and food product safety, and the new certification will help demonstrate how we work systematically in this area.”

ISO/TS 22002-6 is a technical standard, according to which certified companies must set up, implement and maintain control programs based on risk analyses that will ensure safe feed for livestock. It will be a valuable weapon in efforts to continuously prove high feed and food product safety, and as an ISO standard becomes the official standard in over 160 countries.
