Danish Agro part of new DanBred structure
Today an agreement has been reached on a new business model for DanBred, the Danish pig producers’ breeding system, which includes Danish Agro as a co-owner going forward
The Danish Agriculture & Food Council coordinates the Danish breeding programme and the new company will now also take care of all marketing, sales and distribution in Denmark and abroad.
The new company, with will be owned by the Danish Agriculture & Food Council (51 %),, DanBred International A/S (24,5 %) and Danish Agro (24,5 %), is to ensure a strengthened competitiveness on the world market. The company will be operational as of 1 August 2016.
Increased competitiveness and internationalization has been an important reason for why Danish Agro has decided to become an owner of the new DanBred company, says Group CEO of Danish Agro, Christian Junker.
- I am sure that the new DanBred will increase the profitability of Danish breeding products to the benefit of owners, the pig producers and customers around the world. We will increase our international presence and possibilities. Furthermore, the deal will be an opportunity for our subsidiary Hatting, Europes biggest producer of boar semen, to increase its international presence in the coming years, says Christian Junker.
The new CEO Thomas Muurmann Henriksen previously held the position of CEO of DanBred International.
- Basically the new DanBred introduces a new business model creating a coherent value chain. Thus is created a new international breeding company, says Thomas Muurmann Henriksen.
It is expected that DanBred may grow considerably in the export market with the new owners. Specifically, the new structure means that in the future all production is made on the basis of license production agreements with DanBred and that the company will handle future sales directly or through agents and partners.
