New CEO for machinery sales in Scandinavia
Danish Agro has appointed Jens Skifter as the new CEO for machinery sales in Denmark, Norway and Sweden.
Skifter comes from a position as Regional Director at CLAAS Global Sales GmbH, based in Germany, where he was responsible for the whole CLAAS sales, service and distribution set-up in 12 European countries in Northern Europe. His appointment follows the new agreement between CLAAS and Danish Agro in which the two companies are to cooperate exclusively on the Danish, Norwegian and Swedish market.
In his new position, Skifter will act as CEO and Managing Director of the newly established Danish Agro Machinery Holding A/S. His main initial task will be spearheading the teams setting up a new distribution network for CLAAS in Denmark, Norway and Sweden.
Skifter looks forward to the challenges of his new position:
“Danish Agro is a strong international company in the agribusiness industry, which is a great match for the high quality machinery portfolio from CLAAS. I see great potential in the new setup and look forward to making a difference for farmers in the Scandinavian countries moving forwards,” says Skifter.
Danish Agro’s group CEO, Christian Junker, is extremely satisfied with the appointment of Skifter.
“I am very pleased that Jens Skifter has decided to join our company. I am absolutely sure he is the best candidate for both CLAAS and us to be heading up our machinery sales in the Scandinavian countries. Jens has a proven international track record and in-depth knowledge of the CLAAS portfolio and the Scandinavian countries. I am convinced he will be able to make a difference for farmers in those countries,” says Junker.
Jens Skifter is 46, born and raised in Denmark, comes from a farming background and holds a degree in mechanical engineering from 1993, specialising in farming machinery. He is married to Ewa and together they have three children aged 18, 16 and 14. They live in Spentrup, close to Randers, Jutland, Denmark.
Skifter emigrated to Germany in 1993, working in a German sales company for one of the top four global brands as harvesting product manager, later in sales management and dealer development. After a year in southern Germany, he joined CLAAS in 1999 in Harsewinkel, working initially in internationalisation of used machinery. In 2000, he became Export Area Manager for Northern Europe i.e. Scandinavia, Finland and the Baltic states.
After the successful launch of CLAAS tractors in Scandinavia in 2006, Skifter took on the senior management role of Export Management Overseas, reporting directly to the board – a region covering more than 100 countries in the southern hemisphere, from South America, Africa, the Middle East and India, where CLAAS operates two factories, to Asia/Pacific, incl. Australia/NZ.
He served as Regional Director in CLAAS Global Sales GmbH from 2008, based in Germany – overseeing the whole CLAAS sales, service and distribution set-up in 12 European countries including Northern Europe.
